walking in memphis

this is a picture of beloved singer-songwriter marc cohn. if one were to create a timeline of the significant events in marc's life, it might look something like this:

1991: the smash hit "walking in memphis" earns marc a grammy and international superstardom
2005: marc is shot in the head in denver in an attempted carjacking


anyway, im in memphis now, so it got me thinking aboot marc cohn. today was just a driving day; i left atlanta around 10am and got here seven hours later, which, in an odd turn of events, was not 5pm, as you might expect, but rather 4pm due to something referred to as 'time zones'. yeah, ive never heard of them either. but i was tired already, and now i have to wait an extra hour until its a reasonable time to go to bed. the problems i must face... anyway, i have no plans for the rest of the night, and its only six. i came to memphis kind of by accident, so i didnt get to research fun things to do around here. im gonna check out graceland tomorrow. oh, by the way, marc is alive and well. its a rare dude that survives a head shot.
